The End of Summer

Where did it go? I often think this as I am searching for things right in front of me. But in relation to summer, I have no idea. I had grandeous ideas of all the work that I would get accomplished during summer break. Needless to say, nothing got accomplished on my list.
I did spend weekends at the beach with my 86 year old mother. We would shop, sit on the beach, and eat junk food. I have no promise of the future summers with her so who cares about clutter and dust at home? Well, technically my husband. But that would be another blog post.
I did spend one day every other week with two of my three granddaughters. The six year old is very excited that this fifty eight year old GiGi is learning to swim in the pool with floaties. Yes, picture that scene. I bought her a GoPro Kids but forbid her to film me. She did create a hashtag for me. #oldgrannyfloaties Love that kid more than words can express.
The two year old granddaughter only sees me as an immediate connection to her PawPaw on the phone. As soon as she learns to use voice dial, I may be history. She also accuses me of eating all the candy which may or may not be true.
The four month old sister of these two cuties is just happy to be fed and changed. She is turning over already. She will not have time to be a baby because she must keep up with the two older siblings. She does think I am incredibly humorous when I am teaching her how to make blowing sounds. Again, I will never admit to this as she blows food all over her mother and father.
Grandchild number four made his appearance three weeks ago. He is the only grandchild in both his mother and his father's family. Needless to say, this gentleman will be very loved and spoiled. His girl cousins think that he hung the moon.
I have been thinking of school the last few weeks. I am trying to determine methods to deliver content in the most effective way to my students. I have found a few things to try out the first few days, created my website, printed out key vocabulary words, and condensed weekly homework assignments into one page.
The clutter and dust are still in my house. The grandchildren made memories with their GiGi. The teacher worked on ideas for school. The husband still dreams of a clutter free house, no dust, cleanly vacuumed floors, and ironed clothes. Poor guy has been waiting forty one years so what is a few more months.
I promise next entry will focus more on school. The work days and workshops of next week should inspire a blog post. For now enjoying my last few moments, friends. Love and Peace
